Detroit je t’aime at the Berlinale 2014
We’re extremely excited to announce that the first chapter of Detroit je t’aime trilogy, “3 Acres in Detroit,” is in selection at this year’s Berlinale film festival.
The film will be screened on Wed. February 12th 2014 at 10pm at the prestigious Martin-Gropius-Bau Kino followed by a short Q&A with Nora Mandray, its director. Nora and Helene will be happy to meet you all there!
3 Acres in Detroit tells the story of Donnie, who grows food on a 3-acre farm which he named “Occupy Yourself.” This land was once a park in a thriving middle-class neighborhood. Today, the streets around features rows of abandoned houses.
At the end of his first season as an urban farmer, Donnie decides to turn one of these houses into a greenhouse in order to save his produce from the cold.
His only tools; his bare hands and a relentless will.

Donnie’s story will be available online as part of our interactive documentary when we launch this June 2014.
